Little girl at the window, what do you see?
She walks to the window and looks outside
To see nothing but the cars driving by
No one is coming, she is all alone,
Trapped in a house that could never be home.
Looking out and wondering if,
If anyone knows she even exists,
To be used, abused, broken, and die,
Never getting to the other side.
No one will see the tears she cried
No one will know how she died
No one will ever hear her story,
It was buried with her little body.
Little girl at the window, what do you see?
She walks to the window and looks outside
A man is walking up her drive
He is coming and she won’t be alone.
Holding her breath she knows how it goes.
Looking out and wondering if,
She can find a way to not remember it.
The way his hands felt on her skin,
The way he breathed, the way he grinned
Only he will see the tears she cried
Only he will she how she tried
Only he will hear her voice
But he was the one with her choice
Little girl at the window, what do you see?
She walks to the window and looks outside,
A man is walking up her drive
She sees his uniform and wants to hide
The last time she saw him, the other girl died
Looking out the window and wondering if,
If he will be the reason she gets hit
Or if she can manage to get away
To be alive to see the next day
He keeps her believing the lies
That no man will ever try
Try to help her stay alive
Men don't care if she lives or dies
Little girl at the window, what do you see?
She walks to the window and looks outside
A man is walking up her drive
She sees his uniform and wants to hide
But maybe he could be the one who tries
Looking out the window and wondering if
If he could be the one to save her from this
He lifts her up and carries her out
She hears as all the other men shout
He wiped away the tears that she cried
He is the reason she is alive
He is the reason she has a voice
He is the reason she has a choice
Little girl at the window, what do you see?
She walks to the window and looks outside
Back at all the girls still wondering why
Praying for them to stay in the fight
That they could hold on tonight
She looks back, and wonders if,
If those stuck little girls know she exists,
If they know that they are not alone
If they know she is trying to bring them home
She uses her voice to tell the world,
About the girls who will never be heard
Hoping she can tell them why
Why we at least have to try,
Little girl at the window, what do you see?
